I am in labour now. Contractions are every 15 minutes but I can’t go to the hospital until they are every 10 minutes so here I am sitting at home breathing through it all. It isn’t too bad to be honest. I know it is going to get worse so I am just thankful that right now I can manage with the pain. I am taking co-codamol which is helping a lot so I should manage to get some sleep tonight.
Just contractions so far. I’ve still got my mucus plug, my waters are still intact and no bleeding. As soon as that happens it is hospital time, whether contractions get to 10 minutes or not.
Today (22nd July) is my due date, which would be amazing if she was born today. According to all the books only 5% of babies are born on their due date.
Next update shall be the birth announcement! Crazy stuff! I can’t believe I am going to be a mummy sometime in the next few days.

So I have pretty much been AWOL for a while. The baby is still firmly in my womb despite many occasions when I thought she was planning the great escape!
I have 46 days left, that is just over a month and it is getting scarier than ever. The fact that next month I will be a mum is very daunting to say the least. I am not ‘one’ with babies. I don’t get children at all. When faced with a baby or child I just sort of smile nervously at them and have no fucking idea on what to do or say to them.
My friend Karen came over with her son Callum on Wednesday who is 7 weeks old now. I’ll admit I got extremely broody… guess I am in the best damn position to be broody given that I am due to give birth next month! He had fallen asleep in his pram and Karen went to the toilet. The very second she left the room one eye opened and then the other. Suddenly he was screaming. I tried everything to calm him down but nope it didn’t work! What was actually only 2 minutes felt like 2 hours! When Karen came back in he stopped.
Later while she was trying on some trousers in a shop he did the same thing but this time I got down on my knees (sooo hard for an 8 month pregnant woman to do but I did it!) and started blowing raspberries at him. Immediately he stopped and smiled sticking his tongue out at me. I felt so high because I had managed to stop him from crying. It has made me believe that yes it will be tough to look after a baby but I can do it.
To round this entry up I shall recap quickly what has been going on since I last posted. I am now on elbow crutches for the lovely S.P.D which is extremely painful. I have a bump support. I now see my midwife every week. Last but not least…. Ewan found out that in August he is being made redundant! Perfect timing!

3 weeks ago I got a really bad stomach bug. It got passed onto everyone and now it has returned to me. I spent all day yesterday just lying on the couch with a bucket next to me. I am feeling a bit better today but not 100%.
I have a hospital appointment at 3pm and I am just glad that my dad is driving me to it. I don’t think I could handle the 40 minute bus journey there. I honestly don’t want to go to this appointment but I need to. I had to cancel the last one because of the first stomach bug I got.
Aimee is more active these days. It is mostly at night she gets all hyper. It feels bizarre knowing that there is a little person moving around inside me. I really can’t wait to meet her… then the real fun begins. Crying, dirty nappies, night time feeds, spit-ups. Lovely stuff!

3rd trimester has arrived. It now means that it isn’t long until I am a mummy which scares me. I am looking forward to giving birth but still nervous about it. I just can’t wait to meet Aimee now.

Karen had a boy, Callum, on Saturday. 8lbs 6oz. Out of the pregnant friends, I am the next one to pop so that is scary but I am looking forward to it. Not the actual birth, that still scares me, but being a mum. It is a scary thought being so responsible for something so tiny but I think I am ready for it. I am 24 years old, I’ve with Ewan for 4 years and we are in love. We have our arguments on the odd day but what couple doesn’t?

After much thought Ewan and I finally bit the bullet and booked our 4D scan. It is 15th April at 8pm. Not liking the late appointment but it was either that or an appointment 5 weeks away. £175 but we are getting 4 large photos, 10 minute DVD and sexing so if all goes well we should be finding out if we are having a boy or girl on Tuesday night.
In other news my friend Karen has been induced today. She is 10 days overdue so hopefully things go smoothly for hr and she has her lil bubs in her arms by tomorrow.

I haven’t wrote in a while but I am going to make a quick update.
For the past 4 days I’ve been so ill I haven’t been able to see straight. Stomach bug. Not much fun, especially when pregnant and you cannot take anti-biotics. I’ve had to just ride through it.
Nothing much, pregnancy-wise. I can now SEE the baby move about through my bump which still freaks me out. My belly button looks like it may not ‘pop’ after all and I am hoping it will just flatten off. Outties freaks me out.
Until I feel well enough for a full update, I shall leave it here for now. I have not gone AWOL though.

The scan went really well and baby is now at full growth for 22 weeks.
It was a quiet day in the uterus yesterday. Soft movements.

I’ve had a few people ask me this. It feels like the strangest thing in the world. I felt my first kick at 15 weeks which according to the books is very early. I am now 21 weeks and it is now much stronger. At first it felt like flutters, now it is a clear movement. To be bluntly honest it feels like gas moving down the tubes. I get the strongest kicks when I lie on my back in bed. Bizarrely when the baby starts getting hyper I just play Westlife or Boyzone and it calms down. I still have 19 weeks left and I know that it will get much stronger.
My diet is improving… slowly but surely. Ewan took me to the Beefeater for dinner. I usually order the 8oz rump steak with chips. I get the salad with it but NEVER eat it. I know I should just say I don’t want it but I never do it. Today I ordered the 8oz rump steak again. Instead of chips I went for new potatoes and I actually ate the salad. I loved it. Much healthier.
